Mercy Ministry
“The first organization for the ministry of mercy is the Christian family. When God sees a person in need, he puts primary responsibility for aid on that person’s family. He who does not care for his own family is worse than an unbeliever (1 Tim. 5:8; cf. Lev. 25:25).”
― Timothy Keller, Ministries of Mercy: The Call of the Jericho Road
The Mercy Fund extends compassion to the St Thomas Anglican family and those in our family to help meet acute and immediate material needs. The Mercy Ministry team demonstrates God's love and compassion to those in need, in both our congregation and our community, by providing support and assistance, which may be financial, physical, or spiritual in nature.
ABOUT MERCY MINISTRIES at ST. THOMAS
Mercy ministry can take on many faces as we seek to meet needs and extend the love of Christ. Sometimes we do this by supporting other ministries that are already at work in and around the community. Support may be through prayer, volunteer workers, or financial assistance. Mercy ministry also goes on daily and often unnoticed through many members of our church who minister one-on-one to those in need. We believe that the degree to which we assist the poor and needy in our church and community demonstrates how well we grasp of the mercy of the gospel.
