What will my child learn at LLVP?
As a staff we are committed to providing…
A loving and nurturing environment for your child to grow.
We want our children to learn that they are loved by God, their teachers, and the Preschool staff through the acceptance and encouragement they receive at school. We will tailor the classroom environment and activities to be appropriate to the developmental abilities of the children. Children will be helped to develop appropriate behavior through various means of guidance and discipline such as offering choices within safe and desired parameters, using daily interactions to teach character development, conflict resolution, social skills, and self-control.
An evidence-based curriculum in which children learn skills that prepare them for success in kindergarten and beyond.
LLVP follows a robust curricular program that aligns with Kindergarten learning objectives for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our program provides a balance of experiences to help your child grow in all areas of development—cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual knowledge and abilities.
Spiritual Formation
In addition to the overall Christian culture we foster at Little Lambs, we intentionally build upon our Christian foundations through our weekly Chapel. We seek to develop and nurture our children spiritually through learning the Lord's Prayer, basic forms of liturgy, Bible stories and songs, character development. Chapel is led by Pastor Eric with the goal of giving your child a broad overview of the Christian story and its meaning for little ones.

Curriculum and Assessment
We utilize evidence-based curricula in our Preschool and Kindergarten that aligns with the Virginia Department of Education's standards for Early Childhood Learning and our Christian values in the historic Anglican tradition, and we evaluate our educational effectiveness by voluntary participation in Virginia's VQB5 initiative.
Creative Curriculum for Kindergarten
The Creative Curriculum for Kindergarten provides a research-based, whole-child approach to learning through project-based investigations of science and social studies topics that integrate literacy and mathematics concepts into everyday instruction. It inspires a lifelong love for learning as the teacher:
- fosters a classroom community that supports children on this exciting journey;
- saves time collecting authentic assessment information with an entry assessment;
- creates meaningful learning experiences through project-based investigations; and
- encourages children to think critically, solve problems, and connect ideas.
Pocket of Preschool
For our preschool-aged children, we utilize the Pocket of Preschool curriculum. Pocket of Preschool is a comprehensive, play-based educational framework designed for preschool and early childhood educators. It emphasizes hands-on, engaging activities that support the development of foundational skills in areas like literacy, math, science, and social-emotional learning. The curriculum is structured around thematic units and centers, allowing children to explore and learn through play, creativity, and exploration. It includes lesson plans, printables, and activity ideas that are easy to implement, adaptable, and aimed at fostering a love of learning while meeting developmental milestones.
CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System)
CLASS is the teacher and classroom assessment system our Little Lambs teachers participate in to deepen their interactions with children and improve their educational outcomes. CLASS not only defines teaching quality through the lens of interactions, it provides the ability to measure and improve the interactions that matter most for children’s outcomes. And, it’s a journey of continuous improvement that is data-driven.
